When it comes to marketing your company’s product or services, there are a few choices that you have. You can do it yourself, you can hire someone full-time to take on the job, or you can hire a marketing consultant. Unless you have more than 500 employees or over twenty million in annual sales the latter choice is really the recommended way to go. Yes, that’s partly because they bring all the skills, experience, and knowledge necessary to do the job correctly, but that really is only part of it. There are so many reasons to hire a social media marketing consultant and no reason why you shouldn’t.

Money. Yes, just like everything else in your business, marketing comes down to money. The better your social media campaign is, the more money you are likely to make. And while you may think that hiring a social media marketing consultant will take away from that extra profit, because you’ll be spending those extra dollars on your consultant, the opposite is almost always true. If you take on the giant task of marketing yourself and fail, it will cost your company hundreds or thousands of dollars. And when that happens, your marketing budget may already be tapped, disallowing you the opportunity to find your mistakes and do it again properly a second time. And that’s not the only way that social media marketing consultants will save you money.

If your small business needed to have its roof repaired, would you hire a contractor full-time to stay on with your company, in the event that you need roof work done again at some point? Of course not! You’d hire a contractor to take care of the problem and your business would be finished with them once they were through. If you have another roof problem in the future, you’ll call them back and arrange for a new job – there’s no need to pay them in the meantime. And the same is very true for a social media marketing consultant. While hiring a full-time marketing individual or department will allow you to hand over marketing jobs and duties to that person when they arise, that won’t be all that often. Once your marketing strategy has been created and implemented, there will be very little for your marketing consultant to do. While you may have to bring them in once in awhile to adjust marketing strategies and change them slightly, it’s certainly not worth bringing someone in full-time, and that strategy will definitely cost you a lot more in the long run than hiring a consultant will be.

Another very good reason to hire a marketing consultant is simply because you are too busy to do it yourself! As the owner of a small business, you already have several balls in the air that you’re juggling. Marketing is an enormous area and if you take it on yourself, you’re bound to drop one of those balls, either in the marketing department or somewhere else within the company. And wherever something gets missed, that’s going to cost your company money in one form or another.

In business, the sole thing that the majority get hooked on is a discount or “freebie.” Therefore , you need to definitely be using these types of promotions in your business. Historically, discounts are revealed in papers and attached to magazines and papers. But the conventional paper discounts are quite costly since it involves paper and printing materials.

On the other hand, mobile selling coupons offer the same kind of benefits as paper coupons, but with less overhead costs and expenses. Additionally, coupons through SMS have a hefty rate of redemption compared to traditional discounts.

Most US people own cellular phones and a lot of them, or perhaps most of them, always carry their mobile devices with them. Therefore , your SMS coupons are probably going to be read by purchasers just minutes after your send them out.

To realise mobile selling coupons, refer to the name itself. It is one effective way of breaking the ice and penetrating to your target audience by way of using their favourite gizmo “the coupon. Your campaign will be easily received without having to scan on papers and wait for magazine issues. Not like the conventional paper coupons, mobile coupons are not easy to lose and maintain grace in redemption.

By miles, redemption rates for SMS is higher than paper coupons

Because they are less difficult to claim as most individuals always have their cell telephones with them. This convenience alone is a contributing factor to the rate of success of mobile discount redemption.

Another thing is that, SMS text coupons are more convincing thus increasing the rate of your sales. As reports show, coupons sent through text appeals to more purchasers matched against the paper ones. Mobile coupons are more discussed and shared by many folks. If someone gets an incredible mobile discount offer, they’re fast to forward it to their friends and family members so they can get in on the deal too. Now, you have simply added rather more folk to your mobile list without doing any additional work.

Using mobile marketing coupons for your business is precisely the thing that you will need to take advantage of your local mobile market. It is one way to let folk know that your business exists in your local community. Mobile coupons are good for branding and keeping your business in the face of your target market. Not only that, but they also help you increase profits by promoting to a list that WANTS your promotions and are happy to redeem them.

Mobile coupons are the perfect way to keep your list engaged and happy to be part of your SMS text message promoting list.

Giant corporations today are using the power of QR Codes as an element of their marketing strategy. Quick response codes (QR codes) were first utilized in Japan used in tracking down parts of their car during manufacturing. Today, the QR codes are gaining popularity all around the planet.

QR codes are patterned codes in arranged in squares generally with a white background. QR codes are inserted with info and information that can be right away exposed with only 1 click of a mobile phone. Enterprises can use QR codes to promote vouchers, special offers, and reductions. They can also use them to build a mobile list of customers. They may also be used to direct folks to your website, online video, or Facebook Fan page. The probabilities are not limited.

Although, QR codes are extraordinarily becoming more favored today, there are still some businesses that aren’t aware of the strong advantages of using QR codes. Since they don’t know about the advantages, they’re missing out on all of the potential business this leading edge technology can produce.

Here are other benefits it is easy to get from QR codes:

No Reprints

- QR codes don’t need re “printing of your ads and promotions thus reducing your printing expenses. Folk can simply click on the QR codes provided to view info they need about the product. They can push the code anytime they’d like to retrieve the info.

Build Buyer Excitement

- Providing QR codes in your products increases excitement because people are curious about what info is hiding behind your QR code. Now, they can immediately retrieve the data embedded in your QR codes. Clicking those codes facilitates feeling of thrill and instant satisfaction, which is excellent for business.

Prompt Reply

- From the name itself “quick”, your customers do not have to attend long for extra information about the product. No longer have they got to wait until they get home to have a look at your site to get the information they want. QR codes help immediate access to information regarding your business, products, and services.

Relevant facts acquired from QR codes expedite convenience for the end-user when it comes to getting additional information about your business or offer. You may use QR codes to conduct surveys and customer feedback about your service or product.

Although they’re still considered “new” technology, QR codes are quickly gaining popularity around the globe when it comes to promoting, branding, and selling companies.

While there are a variety of SEO mistakes to avoid, these three can be the difference between a nice surge in website traffic and having your website trapped in a virtual “black hole.”

1. Keyword stuffing

So, you’ve done your keyword research and have found three really great keyword phrases to optimize a page of your site for. You’ve added the phrases to your “meta page title” and plan to add them to your “meta keywords” list too.

While it can be tempting to add 1,001 keywords into this list, it’s the wrong thing to do. Generally, we think that “more is better” but it’s certainly not in this case. You see, the search engines are trying to index your web pages for terms relevant to your “on page” content. The better they do this, the more likely it is that the “internet surfer” will continue to use their search engine.

As a result, they will usually index your pages to appear for a handful of keyword phrases but they’re not going to index it for hundreds or thousands.

While there’s no exact value, the practice of using many “meta keywords” or repeating your keyword phrases many times in your “on page” content is considered “keyword stuffing.”

Keyword stuffing is frowned upon by the search engines as it appears you are trying to “game” the system. Instead of getting more traffic, you may actually find that your page gets de-indexed and removed from the search engines altogether.

2. Forgetting to add a “meta page description”

Often times, inexperienced webmasters forget to add appropriate “meta data” to each page. As most of this information is not displayed to human visitors, it’s easy to overlook.

It is vital, however, to add a unique “meta page description” to each page of your site and here’s why…

Google, and the other search engines, generally display the “meta page description” content (unless you have an Open Directory listing) as part of your search engine listing. It appears beneath the clickable link to your website.

If you forget to add a page description, the search engines will automatically grab a portion of text from your page and use it instead. This may not sound like a big deal, but it is.

Your page description text can help to improve your “on page” optimization, but only if it includes the 1-3 keyword phrases you are optimizing around. It also acts as a mini advertisement and should do its best to entice a web “surfer” to click the link to visit YOUR site!

As there are generally ten “organic” search engine listings on any search results page, you must compete with the others and do your best to see that your listing stands out from the crowd.

Your page description content should be interesting to read and tell the reader what benefit(s) they’ll receive by visiting your site. If you accomplish this, you’ll likely get an increase in traffic and start to “steal” clicks from the other listings.

3. Forgetting to build any “anchor text” links

It’s important to optimize each page of your site around a handful of keyword phrases but the work doesn’t stop there! While the search engines use many factors to determine where to “rank” each page in their indexes, none are more important than the presence of “anchor text” links pointing to your site.

Anchor text links (also called “text links,” “hypertext links,” “backlinks” etc.) are simply pieces of text that are linked to a particular page on your website. Each link is seen as a “vote” by the search engines and they use them to determine where to rank your page for the “linked” terms.

If the search engines don’t find any links, they make the assumption that no one really cares about the content found on your page. Of course, this assumption really isn’t fair as it takes some time for a brand new page to acquire links naturally but that is the assumption they make.

So in order to speed the process up and help the search engines index your pages for the keyword phrases you’ve chosen during research, you have to build some anchor text links yourself. This can be accomplished a variety of ways but buying links, or building them through article marketing, video marketing or online press release submission are some of the fastest methods.

No one can guarantee your exact results but by avoiding these three “SEO mistakes,” you’ll set yourself apart from the masses. Doing so will give you a much better chance of getting your pages ranked on the first page for the terms you’re targeting.

Effective Search Engine Optimization is really not that difficult but it does take a bit of knowledge and a keen attention to detail.

Here are three common SEO mistakes to avoid:

1. Choosing the wrong keywords.

Each page of your website should be optimized for a handful of keyword phrases. This helps your page get found whenever someone uses a search engine to search for a keyword phrase you’ve optimized for. If you optimize for intelligent keywords, you’ll likely get an increase in website traffic from those looking for the types of products and services you offer. However, if you optimize for the “wrong” keywords, you may not get an increase in traffic or may be found by the wrong audience altogether.

Using a keyword research tool, you can determine how many times per month a particular keyword phrase is searched for. This is important because it won’t benefit you to optimize your web page for a term that no one cares about.

Also, you should type each keyword phrase into Google (or your search engine of choice) to see what results you find. If the results show you pages that are related to your own, you are on the right track. If the results are completely unrelated, you should avoid optimizing for the keyword phrase and look for more targeted terms.

2. Forgetting to include a page title.

Each page of your website should have an intelligent page title… also called the “meta page title.” This information is added to the html code itself and can be found at the top of the page.

The page title serves a few different purposes. First, it is displayed at the top of the browser window to let the visitor know what kind of information to expect on the page. It also helps the search engines know what kind of content to expect. This is why it is crucial that your page title include the keyword phrases you are optimizing for.

The page title also appears whenever someone finds your page through the use of the search engine. The page title information is used for the blue, clickable link that will take the searcher to your page. Forgetting to include a page title may cause the search engines to add the term, “Untitled Document,” to your page. This looks quite unprofessional and can hamper your ability to be found for important keyword phrases as well.

3. Using the same page title on all pages.

While effective SEO needn’t be difficult, it does take work. All too often, I see webmasters using the exact same page title on every page of a site and this is cause for concern. Remember that the search engines index pages of your site, not your website as a whole. Your “meta page title” should include the keyword phrases you want to optimize a particular page for, and each page should be optimized for a unique set of terms.

While there is more to effective search engine optimization, avoiding these three common mistakes will help you outrank the many sites that employ them. If you are careful to do thorough keyword research, you should find a set of keyword phrases likely to bring you targeted traffic and new business.

The biggest thing to keep in mind when marketing your business on Facebook is that people are not on there to do business or to be marketed to. They are there to connect with friends, family and colleagues. They are there to have fun, to interact, to see what everyone else is up to Facebook is a fabulous platform for marketing your business. With over five hundred million users, and over half of those logging in every day, it has become a huge, vibrant community, where people go to connect, play and network. It has become an integral part of our everyday lives. And guaranteed, your target market is hanging out there, as well… So when you’re using Facebook for your business, always keep this in mind and look for ways to do your marketing in a way that is not annoying and spammy and that adds to the value and fun of Facebook rather than getting in someone’s face with something they don’t want. With that in mind, here are 5 key steps that you can take to start exploding your business on Facebook today. Step 1: Use a Facebook Fan Page Facebook Fan Pages are where Facebook wants you to be doing business. Also known as Business Pages or , this is the place to promote your business and build a fan base of people who are interested in hearing from you on a regular basis. Facebook Fan Pages are easy to customize, and you can have an unlimited number of fans, as opposed to being limited to only 5,000 friends on a personal profile. They function much the same as a personal profile, with the wall, tabs and various other tools and features that are the same. Facebook is making some exciting changes this year to Fan Pages that allow you to use Facebook as your Page and post things to your Page using the standard Facebook Share buttons around the web. Step 2: Customize Your Facebook Page With so many businesses now using Facebook as part of their marketing strategy, it is more important than ever to do what you can to stand out from the crowd. One of the best ways to do this is to customize your Page so that it reflects you and your brand and lets your potential fans know why they should hang around and choose to follow you. You can customize the picture in the left sidebar and make it a nice vertical banner with your logo, picture, name, tagline and any other info you would like to include on there. Since this banner shows up on every page within your Facebook Page, it’s a great way to really brand your Facebook presence. The other important piece when customizing your Facebook Page is to set up a Welcome or Landing tab. This is the page that non fans automatically see when they first visit your Page, instead of just seeing the Wall. The Welcome tab gives you a chance to let potential fans know why they should follow you and click that Like button. Having a Welcome tab set up can increase the number of conversions (people who actually click Like) by 45%! So it’s an important piece to have in place on your Page. Your Welcome tab can include a special gift that your new fan can only access after they click Like, as well, so it’s a great way to offer an incentive or a thank you for your new fans to show them you appreciate them. A Welcome tab is like an optin offer for your Facebook Page. Step 3: Keep Your Page Updated – Regularly One of the worst things you can do for your Facebook marketing strategy is to set up a Page and then rarely (or never!) update it. If your fans don’t hear from you, they will forget you. And if they forget you, they certainly won’t be doing business with you! So be sure to set up a marketing plan for your Facebook Page so that you ensure it stays up to date, with new content going out to your fans on a regular basis. Posting daily, and even several times a day, is a great way to get your fans engaging with you by posting comments or clicking Like on your updates. And by posting regular updates, you’ll be staying top of mind so that when they need what you have to offer, they know where to go and will contact you. Step 4: Network with Other Facebook Pages You can use Facebook as your Page by choosing the setting in your Account drop-down menu. This allows you to Like other Pages and comment on their Wall or updates as your Page, which means you leave a link back to your Page. This is a great way to interact and network with other Page owners, as well as to get in front of your target market and attract new fans. When using Facebook as your Page, always be mindful of how you are interacting and what you are saying. Remember, you are commenting on someone else’s Page, and they don’t want to be spammed, either! When leaving a comment, make sure it is something that will add value to their Page and the conversation. Don’t go blatantly advertising yourself or your services. Instead, join the conversation and contribute comments that are thoughtful and helpful. When you do this, it will help you to build relationships with other Page owners, as well as attract new fans who like what you have to say. Step 5: Talk About and Link to Your Page It’s great to have a Facebook Page, but if no one knows about it, then it’s not going to do you much good. You need to get it out there and tell people where to find you on Facebook. If you have an email list, send out an email letting them know where they can find you on Facebook and invite them to become a fan. Send out some Tweets inviting your Twitter followers over to your Facebook Page. Invite your LinkedIn connections to connect with you on Facebook as well. Are you starting to get the idea? Add a nice Facebook icon or Like Box to your website. The Like Box let’s visitors become a fan of your Page right from your website, without even having to leave your site, which makes it even more convenient for them. Link to your Facebook Page from your LinkedIn profile, your Twitter profile and anywhere else you hang out online. Add it to your profile on any forums or groups you’re in. Add it to your email signature, your author bio and anywhere else you can think of. And don’t forget to add your Facebook URL to your offline marketing as well. Put it on your business cards, brochures and any other print materials you use. And always remember, Facebook especially is about relationships and connecting. Once you’ve got those new fans, focus on building a relationship with them, getting to know them and helping them out, and they’ll want to stick around and even tell their friends about you! Making the decision to expand your marketing into the world of social networking with Facebook is a “no-brainer”. Following these 5 steps will get you off to a great start to build your Facebook presence and explode your business. Make the most of your Facebook marketing by contacting Zurich Media Group for advice and a free consultation on what will help your business best. We can be reached by phone, at (713) 636-5317, or by using our easy Contact Form.

The internet may be called the “Information Superhighway” but that doesn’t always mean the information is correct! This is especially true when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. Sometimes, the information may have been valid in the past but is no longer valid and sometimes… it was never valid to begin with.

Here are ten SEO myths and their corresponding “truths” -

1. It’s impossible to outrank a web page with a Google PageRank higher than your own.

While Google’s PageRank indicator may play a minor role in determining search engine placement, it’s not a critical factor. If you conduct a few searches on Google you will find this to be true. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to find a page, with a lower Google PR, outranking a page with a higher one.

2. Having an XML Sitemap will boost your rankings in the SERPs.

It is wise to create an XML Sitemap but don’t expect to see any rank improvements. The sitemap is useful to the search engines and will help them crawl your site more efficiently but it won’t help you “leap frog” your competitors. It’s primarily intended to help the bots find, and index your pages.

3. Including “meta keywords” will improve your SEO.

Most search engines disregard the “meta keyword” information altogether. While it can’t hurt to include a handful of relevant terms, don’t expect this to improve your rankings at all.

4. It’s imperative to update your homepage frequently.

If changing your homepage content is good for your visitors and business model, then have at it. Otherwise, just leave it as is. That’s not to say that your entire site should be stagnant but that there’s no evidence to conclude the necessity to update your homepage’s content on a regular basis.

5. Trading links with other webmasters is just as good as building quality “one way” links.

Trading links (aka Reciprocal linking) was something that worked a long time ago but it is no longer effective for improving one’s rankings. The only time that the trading of links makes any sense, is when both webmasters may benefit from the traffic that may come from the partner’s site.

6. SEO is a “set and forget” activity.

Most webmasters (and business owners) wished this were true but it’s simply not the case. Effective Search Engine Optimization is an ongoing activity and if you’re not going forward, you’ll find your rankings slip over time. This is especially true as it pertains to link building. The search engines monitor your inbound links and if they find they find they are dwindling over time, they assume your page is losing its relevance.

7. Using Heading Tags is crucial to your SEO.

The use of Heading Tags (i.e. H1, H2, etc.) is useful to define your site’s content but don’t expect them to make marked improvements in your rankings.

8. Hiding a bunch of links on your pages is a good idea.

Google, and the other search engines, are incredibly smart and can spot the occurrence of “spammy links” quite easily. Whether you’re using a teeny-tiny font size to display them, coloring them the same as your page background or using CSS to move them so far off the page they can’t be seen by visitors… the search engines know!

This practice is foolish and trust me on this — no good will come from it!

9. There is an optimum keyword density for your on-page content.

This may have been true in the past but it’s no longer relevant. It’s wise to ensure that your targeted keyword phrases appear somewhere on your page but don’t bother calculating the density percentages. It’s much better to write content that will be found valuable by the humans reading your content than to spend your time writing for the robots.

10. Paying a firm to “register” your site with “hundreds of search engines” is a wise investment.

This type of offer may sound appealing, but it will do little, if anything, to improve your search engine rankings or generate meaningful website traffic. As knowledge is power, this information will help you waste less time and money on outdated SEO tactics or those that never worked in the first place.

Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization, aka SEO, is the term that refers to the things you can do to improve your website’s visibility in the search engines. Search engine optimization techniques focus on increasing the organic, or natural, traffic that you receive based on your ranking within the search engines.

The goal of search engine optimization is to ensure your website appeals to search engine crawlers, or bots. The search engines will take note of your site and its content, categorizing it in a way that will allow it to show up in the SERPs (search engine results pages) when certain keywords are typed.

Search engine optimization is achieved through a wide variety of methods. Many webmasters or SEO professionals will focus on proper keyword research, clarity in the setup of your website’s headers, tags, file names and descriptions, external backlinking, internal cross linking, and quality content creation.

While each search engine uses its own algorithm for determining the ranking of every page that is indexed, it is possible to increase your rankings by making your site informative and visible via both on-page and off-page techniques. Sites that are designed with ease-of-use and quality information in mind tend to do better than those built sloppily and without a solid plan.

Google Search Results for "denver auto repair"

A – The top three ads in the shaded area are paid ads. They have been created through Google’s Adwords program and are Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads. B – As I conducted a “local search,” Google is showing me a Google Map relevant to my search. The red drops, lettered “A-G,” represent the businesses that have claimed their Google Places listings. C – These ads are also paid ads created through Adwords. D – This is an “organic” listing that can be manipulated through SEO. You can see that this business has created/claimed their Google Places listing as the “A” tear drop appears in their listing. E – These two listings are standard “organic” listings… the kind most are familiar with)

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing, or SEM, is similar to search engine optimization but focuses less on natural rankings and more on the actual promotion of a website. SEM techniques generally include natural SEO but almost always branches out to include contextual or paid search advertising.

Paid search advertising models became more prominent in the late 1990′s, after the search engines themselves became more popular. SEM focuses more on business-oriented websites and their overall online marketing strategies. Because many of the paid advertisements appear at the top of the search engines, the FTC in 2002 responded to complaints by clarifying that paid advertisements and website listings must be clearly denoted so that consumers do not confuse them with websites that have obtained high rankings naturally.

It really doesn’t matter what type of website you have, whether it’s personal or geared towards your business. Incorporating search engine optimization techniques into the creation and ongoing upkeep of your site will ensure you receive higher levels of traffic and, ultimately, greater success.

Millions of people use mobile phones for communication ever day. In fact, more people are using text messaging than phone calls via their mobile devices.

Mobile phones are one of the most essential gadgets and a necessity to most people – especially in line of business. Because of that, marketing strategies involving mobile promotion have been utilized by many businesses to reach out to potential customers – including SMS text message marketing.

However, in order for SMS text marketing to be effective, you have to be careful about how you use it. Similar to other marketing strategies, mobile marketing also needs to be thoroughly planned out in order to get the best return on your investment. The way you use SMS text marketing in your business greatly impacts the outcome of your goals.

Your etiquette and creativity in mobile promotion of your business affects the amount of attention you will get from people. The response you get from people depends on how well you present your products and services to them.

The following are a few SMS Text Message Marketing etiquette tips that will help:

 1. Be Straightforward

Beating around the bush of what you are trying to say will confuse people, which means they won’t comprehend your message. Be clear about your message. If you want them to take some type of action, tell them exactly what you want them to do and there’s a better chance of them actually doing it.

 2. Use Proper Language

Language is one most important aspects of effective communication. Do not use offensive and foul words in relaying SMS promotion. Choose your words carefully.

 3. Be Honest

Don’t use exaggerated claims or out-right “untruths” when using SMS text message marketing. The last thing you want is a bad reputation for your business so keep your text messages 100% honest.

 4. Be Polite and Courteous

One way of getting customers is through courtesy and politeness. When people are pleased with the way you interact with them via text messaging, they will stay on your list a lot longer. If they sense one bit of rudeness, they won’t hesitate to opt-out of your list.

 5. Provide Free Information

Don’t constantly send text messages about promotional offers. Every now and then, send your list some free tips that they would find useful. You’d be surprised at the level of customer-loyalty that is created just by giving out free information regarding your industry.

A properly set-up SMS Text Marketing campaign will allow customer interaction and produce a “closeness with your customer base more than any other form of mobile advertising. Setting up an effective SMS system can be tedious and time consuming, put your mobile marketing in the hands of professionals by contacting Zurich Media Group. We can be reached by phone, at (713) 636-5317, or by using our easy Contact Form.
